Involuntary Intoxication Suit

Assault Charges Dismissed on Grounds of Involuntary Intoxication with Psychiatric Drugs

A twenty-five year old Virginia man, charged with assault against the police, was acquitted today on the grounds of involuntary intoxication with psychiatric drugs. Dr. Peter Breggin testified that the patient’s seven prescribed psychiatric medications produced an intoxication that would have impaired anyone’s mental capacities and judgement. This was the first successfully tried case of involuntary intoxication in the State of Virginia. The defense attorney was William Hassan of Fairfax, Virginia.
